                          Our Bodies are Instruments

                                                                              Olivia Kim

Trees grow to be prosperous. Yet, they can only grow to flourish if
there was a yesterday, today, and a better tomorrow. Today, we are

living in a continuous growing stage of a tree. Through our forefathers’
leap of faith, the roots were created, the promise of a better tomorrow

has established the trunk, and generations that continue to live out
that future have made and will continue to make the branches of the

tree to thrive. Everyday we build off of what we have created the
previous day, week, month, and even year. Although time is continuing

to pass, we never forget about our forefathers’ historical footprints
that have altered the pathway for many. A pathway that leads to hopes
of change through the power of being free. In today’s society, we are

all able to proudly say we are independent and free. However, this
should not be just a saying. This should be everyone’s motivation to

start back up again, this time with the ability to utilize ourselves. We
are all free from being compelled to obtain a new culture, religion, and

even being taken from our families. As a congregation, our bodies
should be used as instruments to voice thoughts. Our bodies should

be utilized in a way where we are honoring our forefathers for
sacrificing their future for our upcoming days to be filled with the right
to speak without fear and to act without doubt. That is what

independence and freedom means in today’s society. Using the power
of speech, action, and this state of being free from control to

              exemplify our rights.
