            Impact (Angela):
Maangchi’s talent of being enthusiastic about her love of cooking has reached the hearts of
millions online. With videos up to 26 million views along with hundreds of comments declar-
ing their love for her persona and food, there is no doubt she influences them. Ranging from
her tight knit fanbase referring to her as their “korean mom” to the New York Times calling her
“Youtube’s Korean Julia child,” Maangchi never fails to be herself. Those from different back-
grounds are able to experience the thrilling and exciting tastes of Korea within their own homes.
For example, people from India reveal their love for her vegan kimchi recipe while those from
Belgium continuously thank her for her delicious tteokbokki recipe. The genial comments are
            endless.

            (Bryan):
Moreover, her impact has grown greater as individuals began to struggle with their connection to
their Korean identities. Top Chef winner, Kristen Kish, a Korean born
, adopted at only 4 months, says Maangchi’s Korean cooking lessons were her very first interac-
tion with making Korean cuisine. Maangchi’s acceptance and love was clearly felt by Chef Kish
and proclaimed her appreciation. In addition, biracial Korean American, Michelle Zauner, also
known for her band, Japanese Breakfast, consistently states that Maangchi is her hero. When Mi-
chelle’s mother passed, she felt as if her connection to Korea had left her as well. It was through
Maangchi’s videos where she was able to feel connected to her mom and notably her Korean
identity. She mentions, “I always felt this gratitude and indebted to Maangchi.” She elaborates on
her cherishment of this self-made chef within her New York Times Bestseller, Crying in Hmart.

            Conclusion (Olivia):
Maangchi’s influence extends to all. From Korean adoptees never before experiencing the foods
of their motherland, to those who have lost their ability to taste their mother’s home cooked
meals, Maangchi was there to be their guide. She has provided access to the recipes of hundreds
of Korean dishes, from modern to old and traditional. You can find Maangchi in her youtube vid-
eos captivating with adorable accessories to complete her outfits or you find her written recipes
on her blog, accessible to anyone and everyone. If certain aspects of culture had to be preserved,
the traditions that align with food should never disappear. Maangchi’s youtube channel preserves
a part of culture that brings people together, which is amazing and very important. Food has al-
ways been a gateway to share one’s background, and due to Maangchi’s effort, it is obtainable in
            just one google search.
